So we have yet another session of a pirate game that needs to be talked about. This time Super Mario Bros 4 for the Famicom makes its appearance. It's a very interesting game to revise so be sure to check it out!
The music of this game is quite entertaining. I can't express enough that since this is a hack of an original game you can't give the credit of this work to the hackers but rather to the original creators. I gotta say that they picked a really good game to implement Mario into.
The graphics of the game are really good. It being a Mario hack, you are able to see the sprites for Super Mario Bros 3 as well as some from Part 2. It's quite an interesting combination of graphics. The scenery is grand and everything looks like it should. This game was almost as good as Super Bros 8 in pulling off as a Mario hack.
The gameplay is phenomenal! That's very little to say as this is a really good platformer and believe it or not it does use some Super Mario Bros ideas such as items and enemies. The only difference is that you get to turn into a ball Metroid-style in order to defeat your enemies. The levels are kinda of short but enjoyable and you have a whole map to explore. You can think of this game as a Mario hack with some Mario-style gameplay while keeping it fresh with its own gameplay. It's enjoyable nonetheless.
Platformers are usually great for replay and this one is no different. You have some great platforming action but it'll depend on how much you like this platforming action compared to others. Believe it or not, there is a lot of things to explore in this game so be sure to check and explore every area. You can't go wrong with this game, definitely great to come back to it.
To conclude, this is another Mario hack that is actually very playable and has a more Mario feel than the other lazy hacks out there. You will enjoy this one as much as you might have enjoy Super Bros 8 for the same console. Be sure to pick it up whenever and if you ever see it. These games are always good for a laugh or two but this one actually has very deep gameplay that will keep you playing it through instead of just laughing at it. Enjoy!
