Finds 2079: Pikapal, Floppy Disks, and Games!

Finds #2079: Pikachu, Floppy Disks, and a Great Stack of Games!

There’s something I really enjoy about adding a little bit of everything to the collection. Sometimes a new collection haul is all about one particular console or genre, and other times you come across a group of items that couldn’t be more different from one another. That’s exactly what happened with this latest batch of finds!

This time around, we have some adorable Pokémon merchandise, a handful of classic Sony floppy disks, and a fantastic selection of PlayStation games spanning the PS4 and PS5 generations.

Pikachu Gets a Winter Makeover!

Let’s start with the star of the photo: this absolutely adorable Pikachu plush!

Pikachu is already one of the most recognizable characters in gaming, but this particular version comes ready for the cold weather. The blue winter hat, complete with Pikachu ears sticking through the sides and a fluffy pom-pom on top, gives this plush a wonderfully seasonal look.

The snowflake designs on the hat are a great little detail, too. It’s definitely the kind of collectible that adds some personality to the gaming room rather than simply sitting on a shelf alongside games.

And honestly, Pikachu looks pretty happy about being surrounded by all these new additions!

A Little Piece of Computer History

Behind the games are several boxes of Sony floppy disks.

For anyone who grew up with modern storage, it can be easy to forget just how important floppy disks once were. Before CDs, DVDs, USB drives, and cloud storage became commonplace, floppy disks were one of the standard ways to save and transfer computer files and software.

These Sony-branded disks are especially fun for a collection because they represent an entirely different era of technology. The familiar blue packaging and classic floppy disk format immediately bring back memories of older PCs and the days when storage space was measured in much smaller numbers than we're used to today.

They may not be video games themselves, but they fit perfectly with a collection that celebrates the history of gaming and computing.

Avatar: The Last Airbender – Quest for Balance

Moving into the games, we have Avatar: The Last Airbender – Quest for Balance.

Released in 2023, Quest for Balance lets players revisit the world of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series. Players can control characters including Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph while traveling through the four nations and using the various bending abilities. The game also features two-player cooperative play.

For an Avatar fan, having a physical copy in the collection is a nice addition, particularly alongside the many other anime-inspired and Japanese-style games in this haul.

Nioh 2

Next up is Nioh 2 for PS4.

This is one of those games that fits right at home in a collection of action RPGs. Developed by Team Ninja, Nioh 2 takes players into a supernatural version of Sengoku-era Japan, where samurai warriors and Yokai creatures are equally dangerous.

The game originally launched for PS4 on March 13, 2020, and eventually received a PS5 version as part of Nioh 2 Remastered.

If you enjoy challenging combat, character customization, Japanese history, and plenty of monsters trying to kill you, Nioh 2 has plenty to offer.

Dark Rose Valkyrie

Another interesting addition is Dark Rose Valkyrie for PS4.

Released in North America in 2017 by Idea Factory International, this is a Japanese-style RPG developed by Compile Heart. The game combines traditional RPG combat with a rather unusual mystery element: members of the Valkyrie Force can potentially be infected, meaning players have to investigate and interrogate their teammates to figure out who has been compromised.

That combination of RPG mechanics, anime-style presentation, and visual-novel-inspired investigation makes Dark Rose Valkyrie a particularly interesting physical addition.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

The PS5 collection also gets some love with Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

Released in 2024, Eiyuden Chronicle is a traditional-style JRPG created by members of the team behind the Suikoden series. The game features a huge cast of characters and a classic fantasy story involving war, political conflict, friendship, and the struggle for power.

The PlayStation version supports both PS4 and PS5, with the PS5 version releasing alongside the game on April 23, 2024.

For fans of old-school JRPGs, this is definitely one worth having in a physical collection.

And There’s Even More!

There are a couple of other interesting games included in this haul, including a Japanese anime-themed release and another PS5 title with a strong mecha/action aesthetic. The variety is one of the things I like most about this particular group of finds.

You have modern PS5 releases sitting alongside PS4 RPGs, an Avatar game, Japanese gaming material, computer-history memorabilia, and, of course, a giant Pikachu wearing a winter hat!

That’s quite a collection of different gaming eras represented in one photo.

Another Great Find for the Collection

This was definitely a fun batch of additions to the Retro Gaming Life collection. From the nostalgia of the Sony floppy disks to the modern PS5 releases, there’s a little something here for just about every kind of gamer.

And while the games are obviously the main attraction, I think the Pikachu plush might have stolen the show this time around. It’s hard to compete with a giant Pikachu wearing a winter hat!

As always, every new addition helps make the collection a little more interesting, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the next Finds brings.

What do you think of this latest batch of additions? Which item would you want to add to your own collection? Let me know in the comments!

Stay tuned to Retro Gaming Life for more games, collectibles, vintage computer finds, and plenty more gaming goodness!

Finds 2078: Lights on the Wall

Lighting Up the Game Room: New Mario and Pokémon Additions to the Collection

Every retro gaming setup needs more than just consoles and games. The right decorations can completely transform a gaming space, turning a simple room into a personal museum filled with memories from some of gaming's greatest franchises. That's why I'm excited about my latest additions to the Retro Gaming Life collection: a Super Mario Question Block LED light and an incredible Gengar wall light from Pokémon.

The Super Mario Question Block is one of the most recognizable symbols in video game history. Since Super Mario Bros. debuted on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, players have spent decades jumping into these mysterious blocks in search of coins, power-ups, and hidden surprises. Seeing that iconic yellow block instantly transports me back to countless hours spent exploring the Mushroom Kingdom.

What makes this piece especially fun is that it captures the simple but unforgettable design that helped define Nintendo's most famous franchise. Even people who don't consider themselves gamers immediately recognize the Question Block. That's the kind of lasting cultural impact only a handful of video game symbols have achieved.

The second addition might be my favorite. Gengar has been one of Pokémon's most popular creatures since the original games launched in 1996. With its sinister grin, glowing red eyes, and mischievous personality, Gengar has always stood out among the franchise's massive roster of Pokémon.

This wall-mounted LED light perfectly captures the character's playful yet slightly spooky appearance. It's the kind of display piece that immediately grabs your attention and becomes the focal point of any game room.

One of the things I enjoy most about collecting gaming memorabilia is finding items that go beyond cartridges and discs. Decorative pieces like these add personality to a collection while celebrating the games and characters that shaped our childhoods.

The combination of Mario and Pokémon also represents two of Nintendo's most influential franchises. One helped define the platforming genre, while the other created one of the most successful entertainment brands in the world. Bringing both of them together on a single display shelf feels like a celebration of gaming history itself.

These lights will make excellent additions to my gaming room, and I can't wait to get them set up and glowing alongside the rest of the collection.

What's your favorite piece of gaming décor? Are you decorating your game room with Mario, Pokémon, or something completely different? Let me know in the comments!

Finds 2077: COWABUNGA LOT!

Cowabunga! Expanding the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Collection

Every collector has those days when they stumble across a group of items that simply can't be left behind. That's exactly what happened with my latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles haul. Instead of bringing home a single collectible, I added an entire collection of TMNT figures and vehicles to the Retro Gaming Life collection.

The centerpiece of this pickup is the Turtle Tank, one of the most recognizable vehicles in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles history. Originally introduced in the classic animated series and toy line, the Turtle Tank perfectly captures the over-the-top style that made the franchise so memorable. From its exaggerated design to its ridiculous assortment of weapons, it represents everything that made TMNT toys so much fun during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Joining the Turtle Tank are several figures inspired by both classic and more obscure TMNT characters. Punk Donatello brings a completely different look to one of the franchise's most recognizable heroes, showing just how creative the Ninja Turtles universe can become.

One of my favorite additions is the Ace Duck and Mutagen Man set. Ace Duck has always been one of those characters that longtime TMNT fans remember fondly. While he may not have received the same level of attention as the four turtles, his unique design helped him stand out among the enormous cast of supporting characters.

The Creepy Eddie and Shibano-Sama set adds even more variety to the collection. One of the greatest strengths of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has always been its willingness to introduce unusual characters, strange mutations, and completely unexpected storylines. These figures are excellent examples of that creativity.

What makes this pickup especially exciting is how it bridges several generations of TMNT fandom. The franchise has successfully reinvented itself multiple times through comics, cartoons, movies, video games, and action figures. Whether you grew up with the original animated series, discovered the turtles through later adaptations, or became a fan through the arcade games, there's something instantly recognizable about these characters.

As a retro gaming collector, I often find that gaming and toy collecting go hand in hand. The Ninja Turtles are a perfect example. Some of my favorite gaming memories involve TMNT titles such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, The Hyperstone Heist, and the original arcade game. Adding these figures and vehicles to my collection brings back many of those same memories.

Sometimes, the best additions to a collection aren't video games at all. Sometimes, they're the action figures and collectibles that helped shape our love of gaming and pop culture in the first place.

Cowabunga, indeed!

Finds 2063: Mickey & Mega Man Plushies

Retro Gaming Life – New Finds: Classic Icons Join the Collection 🎮✨

There’s something special about adding pieces to the collection that instantly spark nostalgia—and this latest pickup does exactly that. Two legendary characters from completely different eras and styles have found their way onto the Retro Gaming Life shelf, and honestly, they couldn’t complement each other better.

First up is the unmistakable charm of Mickey Mouse. This plush captures that classic look—simple, expressive, and full of personality. From the iconic ears to the vintage-style face, it feels like a throwback to the early days of animation.

Mickey isn’t just a character—he’s a symbol of entertainment history. Having a plush like this in the collection bridges gaming with the broader world of classic media, reminding us how deeply connected nostalgia really is.

On the gaming side, we’ve got the legendary Mega Man—also known as the Blue Bomber. This plush perfectly captures his classic design, from the bright blue armor to that determined little face that defined so many NES and SNES-era challenges.

Mega Man represents a golden age of gaming—tight platforming, unforgettable music, and difficulty that tested your skills. Adding him to the collection feels like honoring one of the true icons of retro gaming.

🎯 Why These Additions Matter

What makes this pickup so fun is the contrast:

  • One comes from the golden age of animation
  • The other from the golden age of gaming

Together, they tell a bigger story about nostalgia and how different forms of media shaped our childhoods. Sitting side by side, Mickey and Mega Man feel like a crossover we didn’t know we needed.

🕹️ Final Thoughts

These kinds of finds are what Retro Gaming Life is all about—celebrating the past, preserving memories, and building a collection that tells a story. Whether it’s a cartoon icon or a gaming legend, every piece adds personality to the setup.

Which one would you grab first—Mickey or Mega Man? Let me know!

And as always, stay tuned for more additions, throwbacks, and retro goodness right here on Retro Gaming Life.

Finds 2062: Kirby Figurine plus Joe and Mac

New Additions to the Collection: Kirby Meets Cavemen!

One of the best parts of collecting is finding items that bring together different eras of gaming, and today's additions do exactly that! From a modern PlayStation 4 revival of a classic franchise to an adorable Kirby collectible, these new pickups are a fantastic mix of gaming nostalgia and fun collectibles.

Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja – T-Rex Edition (PlayStation 4)

First up is Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja – T-Rex Edition for the PlayStation 4.

Originally released in arcades and later on home consoles in the early 1990s, Joe & Mac became a favorite among fans of colorful action-platformers. Players take control of the prehistoric heroes Joe and Mac as they battle dinosaurs, rival cavemen, and other prehistoric dangers in a quest to rescue their captured village women.

This modern remake brings the classic adventure to a new generation while preserving the charm and humor that made the original so memorable. The T-Rex Edition is a particularly nice addition for collectors, offering special packaging and bonus content that makes it stand out on the shelf.

As someone who loves retro gaming, it's always exciting to see classic franchises receive new life while remaining faithful to their roots.

Kirby Room Light

The second addition is something a little different but equally awesome: a Kirby Room Light.

Kirby has been one of Nintendo's most beloved mascots since his debut on the Game Boy in 1992. Known for his adorable appearance and ability to copy enemy powers, Kirby has remained a fan favorite for decades.

This room light perfectly captures Kirby's cheerful design and looks like a great display piece for any gaming room, office, or collection shelf. Whether it's used as a decorative light or simply displayed alongside other Nintendo collectibles, it's hard not to smile when you see Kirby's familiar pink face.

A Great Mix of Retro and Modern

These pickups highlight two different sides of gaming collecting. Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja – T-Rex Edition celebrates the revival of a classic retro franchise, while the Kirby Room Light adds a fun and charming piece of Nintendo memorabilia to the collection.

Both items are fantastic additions and will fit perfectly among the growing Retro Gaming Life collection.

What Do You Think?

Are you a fan of Joe & Mac? Do you collect gaming merchandise like Kirby figures and room lights? Let me know in the comments!

Finds 2012: Meet Bemba Blanca – A New Super Mario Villain Joins the Collection!

I actually picked this up on Halloween 🎃

Today I’m excited to introduce the newest addition to my gaming figure collection — Bemba Blanca, my nickname for this fun and quirky bad guy from the Super Mario universe.

If you’re a fan of the classic Mario series, you might recognize him as one of those strange frog-like enemies that often pop up in the more whimsical corners of the Mushroom Kingdom. With his big goofy smile, round belly, and raised fists ready for action, Bemba Blanca brings a mix of charm and nostalgia that instantly brightens the shelf.

I love how his green body and light blue tuft contrast with the other figures in the display — you can even see Mega Man striking a pose next to him in the background, along with a few other retro treasures. The photo itself has that vintage VHS vibe, complete with time stamps and scan lines, which makes it feel straight out of an old Saturday morning in the ’90s.

Bemba Blanca might not be one of Bowser’s main minions, but he’s got that classic Mario mischief look that makes him stand out. He’s fun, colorful, and perfectly captures the playful spirit of the franchise.

Welcome to the crew, Bemba Blanca — may your jump-squashing days be many, and your spot in the collection well-earned!

Cowabunga Collecting! A Look at TMNT’s Radical Rides and Action Figures

When it comes to classic toy lines, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has always stood out for its wild creativity, colorful characters, and unforgettable vehicles. The picture above shows a slice of TMNT nostalgia that any fan would be stoked to have in their collection. Let’s take a closer look at one of the standout vehicles along with the other figures and playsets surrounding it.

The Party Wagon’s Wild Cousin – The “4 GETIT” Buggy

Front and center, we’ve got a wild TMNT vehicle that screams late ‘80s/early ‘90s toy design. With its bold red, blue, and green color scheme, oversized wheels, and turtle shell detailing on the hood, this buggy looks like it’s ready to crash through Shredder’s hideout or race through the sewers. The license plate “4 GETIT” adds the perfect playful touch, a reminder of just how quirky and tongue-in-cheek the TMNT brand always was.

These kinds of vehicles were more than just cars for the Turtles—they were extensions of their personalities. Over-the-top designs, bright colors, and crazy accessories made each one feel like it was ripped straight from the cartoon. Whether kids were staging rooftop battles or sewer chases, these rides gave the action figures a bigger stage to play on.

Classic TMNT Action Figures

Lined up right behind the buggy are the heroes in a half shell themselves—Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo. These figures capture the classic look of the Turtles with their signature bandanas, weapons, and battle-ready stances. TMNT figures have always been special because they strike a balance between being simple enough for play and detailed enough to look great on a shelf.

Each Turtle has their own personality baked into the sculpt and accessories—Leonardo with his twin katana, Donatello with his bo staff, Raphael’s sais, and Michelangelo’s nunchaku. Together, they make the ultimate sewer team, and for collectors today, they’re still among the most iconic figures of the era.

Playsets and Vehicles – Expanding the Sewer World

In the background, two incredible playsets jump out:

  • The Sewer Playset – A reissue of the original 1989 classic, this was the home base for countless Turtle adventures. With its multilevel design, manhole covers, and battle swings, it gave kids the ultimate environment to stage battles against Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady.
  • The Mutant Module – The subterranean drill used by Krang and Shredder to tunnel their way into mischief. With its spiked design and menacing look, it was the perfect counterpart to the Turtles’ bright, heroic vehicles.

Together, these playsets and vehicles brought the TMNT universe to life, letting kids recreate their favorite episodes or invent brand new sewer showdowns.

The Timeless Appeal of TMNT Toys

From vehicles like the “4 GETIT” buggy to the action figures and playsets, TMNT toys have a timeless appeal. They’re fun, imaginative, and dripping with that late-80s/early-90s toy culture energy. Whether you’re a kid smashing figures together on the living room floor or an adult collector carefully displaying them, these toys carry the same magic.

If you grew up with TMNT, seeing these pieces brings back a wave of nostalgia. And if you’re just discovering them now, it’s easy to see why they’ve remained such a beloved part of toy history.

Cowabunga, dudes!

Finds 1954: Military TMNT 4 Pack!

I was finally able to get this set! They sold out but they just restocked them at the Walmart website so it was smart to wait for them as damn scalpers were already trying to charge you twice as much. I only had Leonardo back in the day. I actually never seen the Scuba Mike. Overall, they're all so awesome! Radical!

Finds 1927: The Technodrome is here! Cowabunga!

The Technodrome is finally here. I pre-ordered this one months ago through Amazon and it's finally here! Took long enough but I guess they were having issues with the stock? I have seen that a lot of people are finally getting theirs as well. Just love to finally have a replica of this for the box art, I never had the original in a  box but I do have an original by itself so it's really cool. I know it has gotten a lot of hate because it's not the same size as the original and the turtles don't fit which is a real bummer. I'm not sure why that decision was made, but maybe it's so that people don't try to sell it off as the original? Who knows!

Finds 1583: The Catwoman from Channel 6 NECA TMNT Set!

This is finally here! It was quite tricky how I got it here. It was sold out in the US so I had to have family from Canada buy it for me and then ship it here. I wasn't going to go looking around Targeys for it, sorry that's just too much work. I finally have my Irma as she's bae! The set is really cool and can't wait to put it all together. It also brought a lot of goodies. I don't know when I'm going to open it or where is it gonna go but will definitely keep you updated!

Finds 1554: Gijoes and Cobra Trooper

A little trip to Wally World aka Walmart and found some really cool stuff. I definitely want to get into army building with the Cobra Troopers even though they aren't from the original series but a trooper is a trooper. I will probably try to hunt them down, but I think it's just lucky to find them as I'm sure everyone else is army building them as well. I'll take whatever I can have and will be looking for them in every trip to different Wally Worlds. The vehicle is just awesome as I love how they use the classic designs for the cover of this vehicle. Makes me feel like I'm back in time. I hope they keep re-releasing these.
