So here we are with another edition of Pirate Game of the Week. This time around we'll be going over a very odd game for the gameboy. With the Pokemon craze, we had to get some of the weirdest Pokemon pirates. Lets go through this one.
The music in this game is not horrid like some other pirates you have seen in the past. It's quite catchy at first and enjoyable altogether. There aren't any memorable tunes on this one but that's good anyways because with such an odd game, you probably wouldn't wanna remember this. The sound effects are at most decent and worthy of the pirate brand. To sum it all up, your ears won't bleed from playing this game.
The graphics are actually quite good and quite similar to games such as Pokemon Gold/Silver or The Legend of Zelda -A link's awakening-. You gotta love the game being the way it looks as it makes it more familiar to games we already played through. I can't complain about these graphics whatsoever, they are just pure savvy piracy goodness!
The gameplay is kind of odd and takes some getting used to. The battles are very similar to the Pokemon games but instead of catching the monster, you get their cellphone number? Yeah, it's that umm odd! The usual stuff is there to help you out like items and your cellphone? There is a lot to discover in this game but be aware of the broken English used in this one. If you can't figure something out, just have a good laugh and try another way. This is a game that will keep you interested just when you thought you lost interest in it.
I would say it would be a good way to have a quick laugh as you go through a game packed with grammatical errors. The gameplay also keeps it interesting and depending on how long the game is, it would be fun to go at it once more. Putting that aside, collecting monster's cellphone numbers would be good practice if you wanna try it out in the mall talking to cute girls, just don't beat them up before getting their numbers, it doesn't work that way.
Overall, it's a very interesting pirate. It even comes with a battery so you can save your progress. You can save up do something else, and return to the mad world of cellphone monsters! Pick it up if you see it anywhere! Price does not matter! Until next week!
