Here we are a little late with this edition of pirate game of the week but lets get started as we have a very interesting title to talk about.
The usual trend of pirates to have a horrible soundtrack doesn't fall in with every pirate. You have a lot to love in this game as the music itself is quite enjoyable. The sound effects are also very decent. You won't hear anything out of the ordinary, even Chikorita's helicopter technique sounds like it should. Thank you guys for at least making that obvious!
The game has very decent graphics for a pirate. You are able to know where you are going and where you can and cannot step on. You also recognize the Pokemon from the game instead of looking at totally different freaks. They sure put in the work to make this game look like a Pokemon game for sure!
The gameplay is actually quite good. You are able to use your Pokemon's ability to your advantage and find different ways to finish each level. You will find this game very enjoyable and playable as you go through the game itself. Your abilities will help you out on the way and even though the game doesn't really put you at the spot to use your abilities by force, you still get the joy of using them whenever possible. What I mean is that the challenge is too easy and it doesn't make use of your abilities in a very gaming savvy way.
For a game that's enjoyable I would say it's worth going back to it from time to time. This is a side-scroller that is definitely worth the money and play time. There is nothing more satisfying than shooting bubbles or leafs to stupid Vileplumes! That's what you get for evolving with a stone!
Overall, this game makes a real good pick up if you are looking for a nice decent pirate original side-scroller. You'll definitely satisfy the Pokemon trainer in you and would make an amazing gift to a Pokemon fan that's looking to see if there is anything more to Pokemon in other consoles. The short answer is, yes there is!
