So after months of having this clone in the closet, I was able to get it to work with some obvious results. Check out the full article!
As you may or may not remember I found two CIB Super Megasons which are a Famiclone released in Europe. I had the AC adapter which was of a different voltage which meant I wasn't going to be able to get it working unless I got a converter of some sort. Time passed and my trip to Peru came so it made me forget about the clones. Finally, after returning from the trip and with a new clone the Max Play, I was able to get it running with the use of the Max Play AC adapter. The results were successful to a point that is. As you can see, the screen is in black and white which further explains and answers the question of where this item was from. Since it's a PAL region console, it would need some sort of conversion to work on the NTSC TVs. I do not contain the knowledge to do such a mod but I'm sure there are many out there who can. Speaking of the clone, it came with built in games which is a nice plus for any clone. There are your usual Marios and Contras so nothing special here.
So here is what Super Mario Bros looks like. It certainly looks like a "classic" game for sure. Not only is it missing color but it's also a lot slower and the sound is slower as well.
Games like Super Bros 8 won't even run on this clone which makes it very hard to like as it seems the comp-ability is lacking. Overall, it's great to finally get this clone working but there is no way I can find use of this clone here except to play a bad joke on a friend by making them play it. I'm just glad that they are in working condition. I'm not sure what to do with them but they are going right back into my closet. Who knows, maybe someday I'll move to Europe and might need their assistance...maybe...
