Today marks a huge milestone on the blog – this is my 2000th Finds post! What started as a fun way to share my pickups and collectibles has officially reached two thousand entries, and I couldn’t be happier to celebrate this occasion with something truly special: the 1984 Comic Book Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures.
These figures pay tribute to the very beginning of the TMNT legacy – the original black-and-white comic series created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird back in 1984. Long before the cartoon, the video games, and the toy lines that exploded in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, the Turtles were gritty underground comic book heroes. These figures capture that raw, monochrome style with their black-and-white designs, bold line details, and the signature red bandanas that all four Turtles wore in the original comics.
In the photo above, you can see the complete set:
-
Leonardo with his twin katanas
-
Michelangelo with his nunchaku
-
Raphael with his trusty sais
-
Donatello with his bo staff
Each figure is packaged beautifully, with artwork and styling that reflect the Eastman & Laird era. They stand as both action figures and art pieces, perfectly bridging the gap between toy collecting and comic book history.
Adding these to the collection feels especially fitting for post #2000. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been a huge part of pop culture for decades, and these figures honor the roots of that phenomenon. They’re not just toys—they’re a celebration of where it all began.
Here’s to 2000 Finds, countless more treasures to come, and the joy of keeping the hunt alive. Cowabunga! 🐢🎉
