Ads From The Past 087: Push Over (SNES)

Here is an interesting game about an ant like creature and whatever you need to do with it. This game sure came out for different formats such as IBM computers, Amiga, and the NES and SNES consoles.

Ads From The Past 086: Chester Cheetah (Genesis)

So back again with more ads. Since I have been missing ad posts I decided to start posting them throughout the day until I catch up. Stay tuned for a massive ad update!

Retro Game of the Week 070: Saga Frontier (PS1)

So we have reached week number 70 and what does that mean? Absolutely nothing! It's just a number anyways but milestones are supposed to be celebrated although I'll leave that for number 100 as usual. Anyways, lets get started! This week we have a game that is said to take 140 hours to complete! At least that's what it says so on the box and they are quite close to it. Not only do you have to have a memory card just for that game but there are seven quests to complete in order to see the ending! Each quest has their own ending. Be sure to keep an eye on each ending as each is just bizarre. From all of them, I think Blue's ending is the most bizarre but I won't spoil that for you. Just play the god damn game!

Square released a whole line up of RPGs including Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy Tactics, and others during the 1997-1998 era. It was an era where the RPGs flourished and were finally respected and known by everyone especially due to Final Fantasy 7, you couldn't ask for anything better. This is where Saga Frontier came in with their traditional gameplay and big battle system. You can have up to 15 characters in your party although you can only use 5 at a time. Before every battle, you can pick which party you are going to bring out so it's quite interesting build your party for each kind of scenario. As for myself, I would only use one party filled with humans as they are the best race of all in the game at least. The game also has a very different level up system which only levels up attributes you have used up. For example, if you have taken a hit then your HP will level up and if you have used magic then your MP will level up. It's very weird but it works especially for humans.

Gen gets hit! Oh NO!

The world is huge and the music is very catchy. You will be leveling up a lot and barely getting through dungeons as the difficulty is very moderate and sometimes frustrating but I'm sure if I was able to get through them, you are too. My favorite feature of the game is the combos with other members of your party. You can have up to five combined combos which means all the members will combine their attacks into one for massive damage. This is by far the best feature of the game and it's what keeps the battles interesting. There are also villages you can travel to where you can get some new power ups and magic which is crucial for being able to advance in the game. The number one rule of this game is pick up Gen at the bar in the Junk city! You must add this bastard! He may be a drunk but he comes in handy in any quest. You also gotta love his victory action! He rocks!

To conclude, the game is quite entertaining but not for everyone. The stories aren't that strong but they are strong enough to make you wanna see what comes up next. Be sure you pick this one up when you have a chance as there is a lot to love about this game. You can't beat 140 hours of gameplay!

Retro Cheat Page 012: S.W.A.T. Knows it all!

Sorry for the delay but it's time to catch up! I have been busy with work and other stuff so I apologize for letting the updates pile up. There are sure many of them to come! Anyways, this week we continue our S.W.A.T. cheat pages series with yet another one. Of course, be sure to check out the codes for all the exciting games in this page. Don't forget to collect them all ^_^

Ads From The Past 085: Prince of Persia (SNES)

When I first saw this game I thought it was some sort of Aladdin game but then I saw the dude falling into spikes and bleeding to death. That was not Disney material! Anyways, be sure to play this game nonetheless as it's an amazing game with lots of obstacles and weirdness all over.

Ads From The Past 084: Dungeons & Dragons -Heroes of the Lance- (NES)

For such an awesome looking ad, the game was horrible! Either way you can still try to play it but I rather buy the board game than go through this hell of a game. Take my advice OK?

Pirate Game of the Week 014: Pocket Monster (SNES)

We continue our piracy research with this little gem right here, Pocket Monster. The game is for the SNES/SFC and was developed by DVS Electronic although one can only wonder who really made this game especially when you talk about pirate games. Nevertheless, the game is your average platformer with bad controls that require you to be very precise in your jumps. The game has mediocre music and the enemies aren't Pokemon at all except for some badly colored Porygons but that's about it. I'm guessing Pikachu is on a quest to extinct rejected Pokemon! You can do it you little yellow devil!

The game is quite common in South America and Taiwan where pirates are abundant. You should pick it up if you are ever down there as they are mighty cheap. Going back to the game, it's just very bothersome that there was so much you could do with it even though it had all it flaws but changing just the music could have given some points to this pirate. Sadly, the creators and developers of this game lack in taste and originality. Now, I know it's awful for me to say that but if you are going to do something might as well do it right. That's just how I feel about it! Furthermore, I can say that this game did not gave me any boner whatsoever and that's how I know when I like a game.

To conclude, there is not much to say about this game. You should just play the rom and not bother with it but if you are a true Pokemon fanatic and want everything to do with Pokemon good or bad then I say go ahead and spend the cash for this. The game doesn't come very often but if you have some connections down south then I suggest you tell them about it! Till next week!

Find of the Month (February)

So who took top honors of February you ask? Although there were not that many acquisitions Super Tetris blew everyone away with its beauty. The game is just another one of your typical sexy classic PC games. The box art is phenomenal and the information on the back of the box is very intriguing. The game also uses the big floppy discs which is perfect for a retro collection. Everything needs to be retro here you know!

With such a great acquisition, I was really happy to announce it as the top find of February. I have a good feeling about March you know...there is a lot of stuff to discover and bring out to the light! Till next time!

Ads From The Past 083: Mysterium (Gameboy)

A very mysterious game by Asmik indeed! Well lets see this game is something to be questioning in your mind especially since there are no screen shots of it. I'm guessing it's a bad game but then again Asmik developed it so it could go either way. I wish they released the pink dinosaur game for the Famicom, instead they bring some crappy games....blah enough said!
