Target Clearance Finds! Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster and Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma for Nintendo Switch 2
You know you're a collector when you start buying games for a console you don't even own yet! That's exactly what happened on my latest Target clearance hunt. I came across two exciting Nintendo Switch 2 games at clearance prices, and I couldn't pass them up. Even though I don't have a Switch 2 just yet, these games are going straight into the collection, ready for the day I finally pick up the console!
My latest additions are Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster and Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. Both look like fantastic additions for fans of Japanese role-playing games, and finding them on clearance made the decision even sweeter.
Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster
The first pickup is Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, an enhanced version of the original Bravely Default, which debuted on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan in 2012 and internationally in 2013.
The game follows a group of heroes on a journey to restore the world's elemental crystals and confront a growing threat. It features a classic turn-based combat system built around the innovative Brave and Default mechanics. Players can save up turns with Default to defend themselves or spend multiple actions with Brave to unleash powerful attacks.
The HD Remaster brings the beloved RPG to the Nintendo Switch 2 with improved visuals and updated features, giving players another opportunity to experience this memorable adventure. The original game was praised for its traditional JRPG foundations, charming presentation, memorable soundtrack, and strategic combat.
As someone who enjoys collecting games across different generations, this is exactly the kind of release I want to have waiting on the shelf when I eventually get my hands on a Switch 2.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
The second addition is Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, a spin-off in the long-running Rune Factory franchise. The series blends action role-playing with farming, crafting, relationship-building, and everyday life simulation.
Unlike the traditional farming-focused settings of some earlier entries, Guardians of Azuma takes place in the eastern-inspired land of Azuma. Players take on the role of an Earth Dancer tasked with restoring the land, rebuilding settlements, cultivating crops, and fighting the forces threatening the world.
The game combines dungeon exploration and real-time combat with village restoration and farming activities. Players can recruit allies, develop communities, and work to bring life back to a world in need of healing.
Originally released for Nintendo Switch and other platforms in 2025, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition offers a version designed for Nintendo's newer hardware. For fans of games that mix adventure with relaxing life-simulation elements, this is an especially interesting addition.
The colorful artwork and fantasy setting immediately caught my attention. I'm looking forward to eventually exploring Azuma when I finally have the hardware to play it.
Buying Games Before Owning the Console?
Some people might wonder why I'd buy Nintendo Switch 2 games when I don't even own the system yet. For me, it's all about collecting smartly and taking advantage of a good deal!
New consoles can be expensive, and building a game library can add up quickly. When I spot titles I genuinely want at clearance prices, buying them ahead of time can be a great way to spread out the cost of collecting.
Of course, there's always the possibility that a game will become even cheaper later, but sometimes a deal is simply too good to ignore. I'd rather pick up games that interest me at a price I'm happy with than wait until I own the console and have to hunt for them again.
Both of these games fit my interest in Japanese RPGs and distinctive fantasy worlds, so I'm happy to add them to the collection now.
Two More Games for the Collection!
These Target clearance finds are a reminder that collecting isn't always about buying something you can play immediately. Sometimes it's about planning ahead, finding bargains, and slowly building a library for the future.
Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster and Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma are now part of my collection, and I'm excited to eventually experience both adventures on a Nintendo Switch 2.
Until then, they'll be staying safely on the shelf as part of my growing collection!
