Manual Monday 041: Final Fantasy Adventure (GB)

This is one of my favorite games for the Gameboy along with Zelda. The game is actually known in a different name in Japan but was brought here and had the Final Fantasy name added to it due to the fact that it was more known. This is actually a game from the Seiken Densetsu series which is known here as Secret of Mana. This same game got ported to the GBA in a remake style and was named Sword of Mana which a lot more people remember playing. Enough of that, here is the manual scans for this gem!

Sega Saturday 002: Kolibri (32x)

This week, we take a look at Kolibri for the 32x. What's the 32x? Well, it's a failed peripheral for the Sega Genesis which tried to give extended life to the Genesis. There were some decent games released for it, but the majority was just trash and with the price of the add-on, it was way better to wait for the next best thing that was already on the way(Sega Saturn). This game is beautiful to look at, but unfortunately that's all that it has to offer. It's a shoot 'em up in which you control a bird and shoot insects and other creatures. The gameplay is so-so but the visuals as mentioned before are actually quite impressive. The 32x was in charge of the visuals as it gave the games a 32-bit graphic style look. Not all the games took advantage of it which made things worst for the add-on.

Famicom Fridays 002: Takahashi Meijin No Boukenjima IV

Another Friday, another Famicom Fridays! This time around, we take a quick look at the Adventure Island that didn't make it to the States. This is Takahashi Meijin No Boukenjima IV also known as the never released Adventure Island IV. The reason was simple as to why it wasn't released. The SNES was already out and Nintendo of America was putting more effort into their 16-bit console which was battling against the Sega Genesis. There was more emphasis to work on the Super Nintendo released of Adventure Island which was released and called Super Adventure Island. This forgotten release was actually really good and took the game into another direction. It turned into a more exploration oriented game in which you had inventory and would find items that would help you explore the areas further. It was a good take on the Adventure Island series which was later used on Super Adventure Island 2 for the SNES and Super Famicom. If you haven't been able to play this one, I highly recommend it. You can either find a repro of it or just get the rom. If you are savvy in Japanese, be sure to get the import as the price is still fair on the market. Happy gaming!

DOS Thursday 002: Wolfenstein 3D (PC)

This week, we have the classic Wolfenstein 3D for PC. The game was actually released before Doom, but Doom had a bigger impact on the genre. The game is pure fun and killing nazis has never felt so satisfying in the early 90s. It comes with a bunch of episodes that develops the story more and more. Be sure to get through it as you might fight this crazy bastard at one point!

That's Mecha-Hitler and he is insane! Just this by itself should be more than enough reason to play this amazing game. I highly recommend it. See where the roots of the games that we play today come from.

Password Wednesdays 002: Justin Bailey Metroid(NES)

Here we are once again with another password and what a password this is! This one was quite popular for Metroid players as they could play as Samus Aran in a bikini style suit. It was really something else for the time and I have to say, I loved it myself. The password is quite easy to execute and you can play through the game with it. Care to try Justin Bailey again?

Finds 1512: Mega Haul! Wonderswan Color Final Fantasy Edition, Final Fantasies, Street Fighter 2 PC, and More!

This package finally arrived and I couldn't be happier. The games on here are mostly new additions or upgrades. It's so much! I paid 250 for this lot and I gotta say, it was worth every penny. I usually don't display prices as they will become irrelevant in the future, but I figure I would just leave the figure here so I can see how it stacks up in ten years from now. Anyways, lets take a look at what we got this time around. 

I finally got a Wonderswan color and this one comes with Final Fantasy I. I was playing it for a bit and I gotta say, it does mimic the GBA Final Fantasy a lot. It's a wonderful handheld that only uses one double A battery, now that's really cool. 

This is a really cool PC compilation that comes with Street Fighter 1 and 2, as well as Mega Man 1 and 3. It's a really cool Capcom compilation if you want to say the least. Love the box art.

Here are the rest of the games that I got. Some new additions of course. I believe I have the Final Fantasies for PSP so might trade them. I will have to double check on the Wii games and I know I have Bravely Default already as I played that game to death years ago. 

Here is also a nice addition. Final Fantasy for the NES. This will take over the other one that I have as it's a little bit more beaten up. Upgraded the condition!

Retro Tuesdays 002: Mouser (TMNT)

Welcome once again to another Retro Tuesdays post. This time around we will take a look at the Mouser from the TMNT line from the late 80s. This was a very cool figure as it could walk on its own. Unfortunately, they were quite fragile so none of the 10 plus Mousers I own can walk! Can you believe that? Overall, it's a really cool especially for any TMNT collector. The only way to build an army of it was to do the same with the Foot Soldier which is to buy a bunch! There weren't many bundle packs for these. Love the whole aesthetic of it. This is a very awesome figure nonetheless. 

They were first seen in the first season... as you can see, they are smaller on screen than the toy version. This also reminds me, Baxter was released by NECA without a single Mouse which only means that they will release human Baxter with them.

Tales of Monsterland, a New Gameboy Game!

Here is another interesting release into the Gameboy scene. This one is called Tales of Monsterland and combines classic platforming with a great soundtrack. We also have the honor of getting a physical release of the game which is great for the collecting scene.
