For today’s Retro-Bit of the Day, we’re highlighting Hello Kitty: Cube Frenzy, released for the Game Boy Color in 1999. This puzzle title brought Sanrio’s iconic characters to Nintendo’s colorful handheld with a fast-paced cube-matching gameplay style that was easy to learn and fun to master.
With its vibrant presentation and cheerful tone, Cube Frenzy stood out among late-era Game Boy Color puzzle games. It’s a great example of how licensed titles could still deliver solid gameplay while appealing to a wide audience.
A cute and overlooked gem in the GBC library.
