Today’s Retro-Bit of the Day takes us back to early PC gaming with Commander Keen: Aliens Ate My Babysitter!, released in 1991 by id Software. As the third episode in the original Commander Keen series, this game pushed EGA graphics and smooth scrolling to impressive levels for DOS-based PCs.
Players once again step into the shoes of Billy Blaze as he travels across alien worlds to rescue his babysitter. With creative level design, memorable enemies, and a lighthearted tone, Commander Keen became a cornerstone of early PC platforming and helped define the genre before the rise of modern PC gaming.
A true classic that still holds a special place in retro gaming history.
