Retro Game of the Week 038: Parasite Eve(PS1)

I think many knew this was coming, it's probably one of the games I searched for a while and wasn't lucky enough to find it until last Sunday that is, was it last Sunday? yeah it was! It feels so long ago you know but it was finally in my hands. Parasite Eve showed that Squaresoft were more than capable of making action RPGs with brand new elements and intriguing story lines. The games cut scenes are outrageous, for instance the part where the rat turns into a freak monster just blew me away! It still did when I finally got to see it again. The gameplay and storyline does evolve as you get through the game like others which will keep you coming back for more.




The sound track for this game is also very nicely done. As this is a game that takes place in more of our time than in the past(Final Fantasy 3) or the future(Final Fantasy 7) the game is just very enjoyable. The battle scenes are well made and gives you a chance to come up with your own strategy. Enemies will have hit patterns where they will hit you while you are moving but you will need to tap the pad in order to avoid these attacks. In other words, it makes you battle for your life! You also get a chance to upgrade your gun, since you being a cop and all, must have a good kick ass gun! The battle also uses a meter system where the meter has to be full in order to needs to fill up in order for you to attack.






This game is highly suggested for those of you players looking for something different but with a familiar taste at the same time. I also recommend the sequel and well I think I also heard that part 3 is finally being worked on so that's something good to hear, although I don't have any next gen console, I'll probably miss out on this one. Like usual, I won't give much details in order to keep the spoilers to a minimum because that just spoils that fun huh? Pick it up as it's a very affordable game on ebay and well try to visit your local pawn shops or flea markets because you might just find it there. Retro Gaming Life News 001: Famicom

Just a heads up on packages coming next week(hopefully). Some Famicom pirates and some Famicom originals as well! I hope to hit the thrift store like usual and save up for another flea market trip. In other news, I have been working hard to keep my shoppe alive, I'm going to try to improve shipping speed by keeping an eye out on when the sales are made. I have been having trouble shipping items lately and well some customers haven't been happy with the time they had to wait. I'm working on it! Furthermore, some videos are in the works once again, as I get more time, I will have more and more videos. I surely have to finish TMNT NES Session sometime this year. It's not like I am losing in the game but I haven't turned on my desktop in months and this all started when I got my internet disconnected. That's how it is, besides having a laptop in bed is a lot more satisfying if you know what I mean!

So that should do it for now, I'll start writing post like this to keep updates and things that might be coming up in the future. Keep an eye out for them :)

Finds 188: Capcom vs SNK 2 and then some!

Visited the local the thrift store today and had a good day. Found some NES titles as well as two neat Cube titles. The NES titles cost 1.95 each while the Cube titles were 2.95 each. Here are some pics:

Finds 187: Famicom Pirates...Kart Fighter!

Here you go some new pirate arrivals!

The label doesn't make any sense! The game though is called Kick Master, not bad at all.
One of the more wanted pirates just because you fight against your favorite Mario characters. Kart Fighter's label is just well, no comment.
This one again, supposed to be a Batman game but it's not that long from being wrong....this one is actually a hack of Monster in my pocket, the game is not bad, it's also called Flash & Batman....

Not really Golden Axe but some side scroller game...hmm it's tough to play as well.


I'm awaiting another set of pirates that I hope I can have here very soon. There are some good ones in that lot I really want to play. Until next time!

Retro Game of the Week 037: Shaqfu(Genesis)

I just had to do this because this game is so awesome. So awesome it deserves a pick of the week. After seeing it for a total of three times at my flea market trip last Sunday, I decided to give it a shot and wow what an amazing game this is. For a side scroller the graphics are superb and the sound just outstanding, just try playing the game with the stereo plugged in and you will have one of the most amazing soundtracks in video game history! I'm not kidding! The gameplay is simple, you have Shaq doing the Shaqattack! doh! and much much more!

Once you pick this game up, you can't put it down!



btw....this is all a sarcastic entry....this game is pure shit but since no one in the entire world will pick it as a game of anything, I decided to be a nice guy like usual and do it myself. Screw this game! UP THE A-HOLE!

Find of the Month (April)

With a very dry month in finds I was able to find some neat stuff. Now that I am looking back, it wasn't that bad at all, of course there were some very very dry days of hunting while some others were just awesome. In the end, an RPG took top honors for this month's pick. Valkyrie Profile for the PS1 is one of the toughest RPGs to find for the PS1, especially complete and with manual, minty disc and what not. The game itself cost me 1.95 which can't be beaten! Also, as a big fan I am of RPGs this makes a huge addition to my collection! Behold once more, Valkyrie Profile!

Isn't it beautiful? So minty fresh!! Well hope you liked my pick, feel free to recommend another pick but I just didn't found anything as great as this.

Finds 186: Turbo Grafx, Intellevision 1 and 2, Persona, and Parasite Eve finally! MUCH MORE FINDS!

Alright so here is the second part of the findings. through the first run in the market I picked up a box of consoles for 30 dollars. The consoles were a Turbo Grafx, an Intellevision, and an Intellevision 2. The Turbo Grafx came with games as well, and the AV connector thing not sure what it's called but I don't need to use the RF adapter it came with. I want to thank Andrew, Rob, and Rob's girlfriend which I didn't catch her name sorry! for the heads up on this box of goodies. Behold photos!

I also picked up a box of loose genesis games! 25 bucks for these although there should be 26 in the lot I mixed up two carts I bought separate from the lot which I paid four dollars for them so 29 dollars in total for these:


Also the same vendor that sold me the three consoles also sold me these intellevision games for 1.5o each but ended up giving me a discount so I took all these for 15 dollars.


I also picked up these PS1 games and thanks to the help of Andrew I was able to get Parasite Eve! Now all I need is the box!
Paid ten dollars for these three discs and Parasite Eve.
WOOOHOOOO! Bought disc two just in case!

After the flea market we decided to visit this indoor flea market that took place in a Senior citizen center, there wasn't much but I was able to pick this SNES up for 15 bucks. I hesitated at first but decided to go for it after all. I wanted to lower it to 10 but she wouldn't budge so I took it still.


Finally, we headed to Play n Trade and looked around. I didn't see much of interest until I saw their PS1 section. Persona 1!!! WOOT!! It cost me 29 dollars and some cents but it was in my hands! All I need is Persona 2 and I will have 1-4! For these games I am willing to pay full price!

So that should do it, it was just an amazing day to hunt for some goodies. I'm very satisfied with my purchases although there were too many, of course now comes the tough part of what I am going to sell off and what I am going to keep. Since I am running out of room here, I'm going to have to be smart about what I am going to keep. So that should do it, I want to thank again all my friends that came along in today's trip, it was awesome and we should do it again sometime, and soon! Until next time!

Finds 185: NES Prototype! plus Gameboy Boxed Games and more!! AMAZING!!

Well decided to hit the flea market after being absent from it and found really neat stuff! I have to make the finds in two parts because there are just way too many photos of the stuff I got today. So this time around, a couple of friends came along which made things more appealing. It's always better when you have company on such grueling outings since the sun almost killed us all, it was great to have company to enjoy the pain along with you har har har... anyways, we walked for about three hours and found a lot of interesting things, here are my finds along with prices:
I got these games for ten dollars.
I got these two games for ten dollars. They could be good resellers but then again they are fun to play.
The vendor wanted five dollars for this but I said no, he said three, I said no, finally he said two and I wasn't sure still but then I decided to get it, so two it is...(it's a gameboy sp charger btw)

My friend Andrew gave me this along with the Saturn game below for giving him a ride to the flea market....a lot of fun I'm going to have with these!

Well, now I will take a break from the flea market finds to post this awesome craiglist find. I got all these gameboy games plus the gameboy color for 10 dollars! YES 10 dollars!!!! Amazing indeed! I didn't know they were boxed to begin with until I saw the kid bring out the bag full of boxed games. Great way to end the hunt but there is more to come after this!

These are just the boxes of the games, but I do have the games for some of these.
More just box of games, the guy who sold it to me said he had a garage sale but he wanted to sell them altogether. I guess some buyers must have bought the carts of the games I only have the box of.
the Gameboy Color also came with the box!
Games here the most notable to me is Adventure Island 2. Sweet game!
Then there is just the case and a magnifying thing for the GBC.

Now here is a little treat from the flea market. I picked this game up thinking it had a converter for the Famicom in it. It turns out that it's actually a prototype of the game Goal for the NES! It's the first ever prototype I found and it's just exciting to have something of high interest!
