» Fixing the Inspiron 9100 Monster Laptop
I got this laptop a couple of weeks ago so it was about time I show something about it as it's a very unique model. It's unique because it brings a desktop Pentium 4 3.2ghz processor instead of the mobile ones of that time. That means, this thing was a beast back in the day. Put a graphics card on that (128mb which is decent for that era) and you have a heavy as fuck machine that you can carry everywhere and game on as well as edit photos with some vintage photoshop program. It's really something else! Lets go through what I did with this beast.
The first that I did was pick up a charger for it on eBay which was quite easy. I also noticed that the laptop was missing the hard drive so it was once again eBay to the rescue. I was able to get a 60gb one which worked like a charm. The funny thing is that the hard drive had Windows 7 Ultimate on it and it ran on the laptop decently. I of course, had other intents. As you can see in this photo, I installed Windows XP pro and then got the drivers. After everything was set, I had a fully working laptop with all the drivers installed. The cool part was the Radeon card that came with it. It's really cool and can play lots of games.
I tried some Civilization 3 which ran flawlessly, but it should have been able to run it as it's a classic game. I will test it out with more demanding games. It's a beautiful machine! Here are some more of the specs:Pentium 4 3.2ghz60GB Hard DriveWindows XP Pro Service Pack 3Radeon 9800 128mb 1.5 gb ram(will upgrade for sure)
