These are some pretty awesome news that involves preservation of something unique. The story goes like this, ID software created a demo of Super Mario Bros 3 for the PC and pitched it to Nintendo. Even though Nintendo was quite impressed, they declined the project. The demo was lost forever until some old ID programmers dug it out and showed it off for people to see. I am not sure if there is anything on any video game magazines, as it was in the beginning states of it. There are videos of the gameplay online but no files for us to try it ourselves. However, the demo has been donated to the Strong National Museum of Play which will be preserved in for future generations to learn about of what could have been.
I honestly would’ve loved to seen this come to fruition as you can see the charm of this port of Mario 3. it has a very Commander Keen style graphics as well as gameplay. it’s just a joy to look at.
