Finds 519: Snow Brothers for the Sega Genesis!

Here is a really awesome game especially two players! Snow Brothers was never released here in the USA so it's a delight to have a copy to play especially one with my own label design!

Retro-bit of the day 127: Castle of Deceit (NES)

Here is a really kewl game for the NES. It's very sought after and it's in a really kewl light blue cart! If you can't tell, this game is unlicensed! The game Castle of Deceit is one of the harder to find NES unlicensed games. The game is average but it's still worth a try. I don't think you would get addicted to it though...

Finds 518: Controller Haul! Final Fantasy 9 is Complete!

Here are some pick ups from yesterday. They were both from the flea market and thrift store. The sport titles you see are getting used to create better more fun games! Should I explain more? Nah! I also picked up some Playstation controllers for a buddy of mine and some Ascii SNES controllers. I picked up four Gijoe action figures, they were the Cobra soldiers and what not, totally kewl. They are the newer versions but whatever, they look kewl enough so they made the cut. There is also a GBA SP which are always handy, that's about it. Something interesting about the copy of Final Fantasy 9 below!
So at the thrift store I found this copy of Final Fantasy 9 which came with three discs. To my surprise, the disc that was missing was none other than disc 3 which is funny because I found a disc 3 of Final Fantasy 9 last weekend at the flea market. Things like these makes you think, are the video gaming gods watching over you and blessing you with a path to triumph? lol! Maybe that's a little too deep but I was able to complete the four disc set nonetheless! It's a lesson for everyone, always pick up fragments of a game as you might be able to complete them sooner or later! Until next time ^_^

Retro-bit of the day 125: Ghoul School (NES)

This is one spooky adventure for the NES. Ghoul School is one of those games you never hear of but are actually decent for a pick up and play. Check it out if you haven't already! BOO!

Finds 517: Panorama Cotton is Mine!

Another gem with a well made label I think. It has cute anime chicks in it so it's good in my book. Besides, it was made by me! MEW!!! The game is quite good! I love it!

Retro-bit of the day 124: Blazing Dragons (Saturn)

So here is another Sega Saturn game. This one is called Blazing Dragons! Wanna guess what it's about? I'll give you a minute ^_^

Finds 516: Mario Games, Pokemon Imports, and Then Some!

I went to the thrift store and didn't expected much to find much. In fact, I was just going to get me a couple of PS2 controllers for my friend but ended up finding more than I could imagine. I finally got a copy of Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii for a decent price (five bucks) as well as Super Smash Bros for the Cube for the same price. None of the games were too expensive, five tops so I was very happy to pick them up. There were also all of these Pocket Monster import games which is rare to find here in the USA especially in the wild. Furthermore, I also got a couple of N64 games and a sealed PS2 controller for my bud. There was also a Super Puzzle Fighter 2 sealed for the GBA and NHL 94 to make a repro of. That should cover most of it! Successful hunt indeed!

Finds 515: More Pocket Monsters Pirates! PokePirates!

Just when you thought I was done with these games, I get another lot of them. All of these will be up for sale to some pokemaniac out there. They are definitely obscure so it will make a good addition to your collection, don't ya agree?

Retro Gaming News 193: KingMike updates two old translations

"KingMike has released an updated translation patch for Magna Braban for the SNES. While the old 06/06/06 06:06 patch has some sentimental value, this new version should be compatible with accurate emulators. This translation might’ve kept Gideon’s original DTE routine, but otherwise all other translation coding has been redone. This code is a comparatively cleaner hack, though the text banks were recopied from the original patch, so the text is pretty much unchanged. While a full playthrough of this patch hasn’t been done, it has been tested that all code and menu modifications are working. This version translates a hidden feature found that can display enemy names in battle, whereas they weren’t translated in the original patch. Not all names have been checked yet, but as that is more of an “omake” feature (AFAIK it can only be seen with a PAR code), it was decided it shouldn’t hold up a patch released.
Additionally, KingMike has released a new patch that inserts the credits into the ending of Time Zone for the NES. If one hasn’t played it, it’s a cartoony sidescroller that kind of resembles Panic Restaurant. Might have even been by the same people. Back when the first patch was released in 2001 it was beyond his ability to insert the credits, then forgotten for over a decade. The rest of the script is unchanged."

Finds 514: Slim Pickings...SNES SN Programmable Joystick, Phix, Mario Sunshine, and Others

Here are some of my recent finds. There is nothing exciting except for that joystick which I tried out and works amazingly well especially with beat'em up games! It was a totally awesome find for sure. I also got some other bits of stuff like Phix for the PS1, disc 3 of Final Fantasy 9, Online PS2 disc, Quake 2 for PS1, and an empty Super Mario Sunshine case. That's about it, till next time!

Manual Monday 006: Joe and Mac (SNES)

So another Monday with another manual for you. The game this time around is Joe and Mac for the SNES. This is one of those games you can play with a friend and have lots of fun with. It's short but fun! I highly recommend it!

Retro-bit of the day 123: Sega Ages (Saturn)

All this week is about Sega! This is Sega Ages for the Sega Saturn. This is a game released by Working Designs that brings some of your classic Sega games into your 32-bit console. What is shocking is that this game was released by Working Designs! Yeah, I thought they were only in charge of releasing RPGs, go figure!

Retro-bit of the day 122: The Lost World Jurassic Park (Saturn)

Here is the game based on the movie! This is a pretty awesome cover art but the game itself is so-so. I think the Playstation release was better somewhat. Nevertheless, Saturn stuff is pretty hard to come by.

CIB Sunday 005: Star Force (NES)

Here is a very awesome classic game for the NES. This one is actually a gift for a friend when I go away so it'll probably be the last photo you'll see of it. Goodbye my old friend!

Retro-bit of the day 121: Soviet Strike (Saturn)

Here is a very kewl game for the Sega Saturn. The Strike series was really fun back in the day but you know what? It's still a lot of fun to play them nowadays. Ahhh good old nostalgia..

Sega Saturday 004: Game Genia (Genesis)

So this is my Sega Saturday showcase. The Game Genie is a very useful device. Not only is it good for cheating, but you can try games such as pirates and imports by using it as a converter since the carts are too wide for the Genesis slot. Keep that in mind ^_^

Famicom Friday 003: Sweet Home 16-bit Challenge!

Nice try Sweet Home. You are trying to leave your 8-bit counterparts huh? It's not going to happen. Enjoy this photo for Famicom Friday!

Retro-bit of the day 120: The Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past (FC)

Here is another game I think everyone should try to find. Of course, it's a little tough to find it nowadays but you never know. This is The Legend of Zelda A link to the past for the Famicom. Yeah, the Chinese developers were savvy enough to bring a port even though it's crappy to the 8-bit console. If you ever have a chance to pick one up, do it!

Retro-bit of the day 119: Xenogears (PS1)

This game is quite good and pricey. I couldn't believe it! Definitely stuff by Squaresoft is quite good unlike most of the stuff released by them nowadays. Not to bash on them, but I think it was better when they had Enix as a rival. Anyways, this is an RPG with some ingenious gameplay style. Be sure to check it out.

Retro-bit of the day 118: Sweet Home (FC)

Here is a classic game for the Famicom. The game is called Sweet Home and it's definitely a good game to play through. If you don't want to deal with the Japanese text, be sure to pick up a reproduction cartridge which comes with the game translated. Capcom did an amazing job indeed!
