Happy Thanksgiving!
Here is a pretty funny 3DS pic! It's none other than Luigi and Link! Apparently, Luigi wants to play hero this time around but by the looks of Link, he doesn't like the idea!

Retro Gaming News 161: Fire Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow English Translation

"While we wait for Fire Emblem: Awakening to be released in English, another previously Japanese-only Fire Emblem is finally available in English, thanks to the dedication of the “Heroes of Shadow” translation group!
Fire Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow is a remake of the second part of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem and the sequel to Shadow Dragon. It charts Marth’s greatest journey from a new light–or in this case, shadow.
For the first time in the series, you can create your own playable character, an Avatar, who fights alongside Marth and supports him from the shadows of history. How will your adventure with Marth and his companions develop?
The current translation patch, v3.00, translates the game in its entirety."

Ads from the past 239: No Quarters Needed! Arcadia

Back in the day, arcades were our hang out spots to showcase our talents and become kings or queens of the arcade! Once more powerful consoles appeared in the market, there was little need for these arcades. Sad to say, that was the end of it. Here is an ad which showcases a bunch of arcade titles to play at home therefore saving all your quarters, then again if you were purchase these titles at around 59.99 each that would be a whole lot of quarters!

Animonday 034: Final Fantasy Tactics Intro

This is one of the more interesting games for the original Playstation. This game caught many off guard mainly because we hadn't seen a Final Fantasy game in another genre. Being the first strategy game of the series, it was definitely a welcomed addition to us RPG junkies. Enjoy the intro!

Retro Game of the Week 124: 8 Eyes (NES)

This game is more of a Castlevania clone for pro gamers. You won't find an easy way out of this game and you'll definitely be crying over and over as to why you couldn't find a certain way or reach a certain points. This game is painful and not only do you have to worry about your health but also of your bird's health! Enjoy the ride....

The music of this game is enchanting and will make you feel the atmosphere of impossible gaming! Yup, the music of at least the first part of the game is pretty much the horn of sound to your funeral. If you get through it, god bless!

The graphics are actually awesome! The game itself looks beautiful and it does look well made. If the difficulty wasn't such a big problem then you would be able to appreciate the pixels more often! Very well done by Taxan!

The gameplay is as tough as you'll find. I guess you can't say it's Battletoads tough but more like a very tough side scroller that you don't want to play again. The game has decent controls but the monsters come from all places! You can't find yourself in a good position at most of the times. Your bird doesn't help much, you are at a loss!! HELPPP!!!
Games like these aren't as good to come back to unless you for some apparent reason fall in love with it. The game is too tough to have the will to come back to it. Check it out if you dare!

The game itself is just a decent Castlvania clone if anything. The difficulty may make it very tough to play through but if you are a real pro, you can over look it. Check it out at your own risk!

Finds 456: Tricks of the Game Programming Gurus

Today I went to the thrift store for kicks since I had nothing to do and found this baby for a buck. It was released in 1994 and it's quite interesting. The book also came with a CD that comes with programs and the shareware versions of Doom 1 and 2. I'm definitely going to check this out as I can probably create retro games with this! Who knows?? It'll be a long time though as I'm a slow learning :p Can't say it was a bad day!

Pirate Game of the Week 054: Lion King 3 (FC)

Here is a pirate for all Lion King fans. Actually, only for all Lion king fans that have a lot of time in their hands. This game is painful and I will go through all the pain of it with you! Lets check it out!

There is no justice to the music. Your ears will bleed at times but it's not as bad as other games. The sound effects are OK, there aren't that many to begin with. The music as in many pirates feels out of place at times and horribly made. Sad to say, you are better off playing this game on mute with some heavy metal to ease your pain through this horrendous adventure.

The graphics are actually quite good. They are detailed and everything looks well made. Your characters are definitely well made by pirate standards. You feel like you're in the jungle but don't go too low because you might feel you're in hell. Overall, the graphics are something more decent than the usual game.

The gameplay is what makes the game suffers. It may have mediocre sound and decent graphics but the gameplay is just painful. You can't jump or move correspondingly and find yourself falling through gaps that weren't supposed to be there. It's sad to say, this is the reason why the game doesn't make it to the decent pirate games list. It's such a shame. You better have a lot of patience if you decide to play this one.

I definitely don't see why come back to this once you've played or whether you beat it or not. You are just going to waste your time and your hair. Stay away from it! ^_^'
The game itself was a very good attempt at yet another side scroller but the game play and mediocre music destroyed any of those chances from becoming true. I wouldn't play this even if I were drunk, hope that helps your decision on trying it out!

Famicom Guide Will Continue Work Soon!

As many of you may have seen, the channel hasn't had much to show for in the last four months. That's all going to change soon as I'm finally going to get back and finish up the guide. What is Famicom Guide? It's mainly a channel on Youtube which has gameplay videos of every official Famicom release as well as some of the more interesting unofficial releases. Thank you for your support!

Finds 455: Kirby's Epic Yawn, Mortal Kombat, and Fairly Odd Parents

A little trip to the thrift store ended up in a couple of interesting finds. Kirby's Epic Yarn being the ace of this lot. I don't even have a Wii but couldn't say no to Kirby which reminds me, I have to pick up the Anniversary Edition of the game for the same console. I will have a Wii eventually, I will! Then I will hack the fuck out of it to have emulators and what not on it! MUAHAHAHAHAHAH! The other two finds were Mortal Kombat CIB, and Fairly Odd Parents for the GBA. That's all for now ^_^

Mortal Kombat (Genesis)

Retro Gaming News 160: Revisiting An Old City

"Battle City was a great and fun game for the NES console system. In it you could shoot other tanks with your tank, and collect powerups, all while protecting your home base.
Features:
*ALL 35 LEVELS COMPLETELY REDONE *PALLETES HAVE BEEN CHANGED *TITLE SCREEN CHANGED
This is a great hack to be able to revisit this old gem, while experiencing it in a new light."

Finds 454: Dreamcast Fighting Controller

This is a find that I couldn't find much info about. I know it's a controller and I know it's for the Dreamcast but I'm guessing this was only sold in Japan? I guess for two bucks one can't complain much about it. If you know some more about it, let me know.

Happy Fourth Anniversary Retro Gaming Life!

So this week the blog turned four years old. November 13th to be precise. I can't believe it has been four years of Retro Gaming Madness. At several points there was talk about shutting it down mainly because of life problems and other issues but things turned up and the blog survived. It is sad to say that many other blogs that started around my time are long gone but that's stuff that happens in life. Anyways, thank you everyone for visiting and be sure to keep coming back for more! There is still a lot of stuff to research and tons of finds to showcase. Until then, cya later ^_^
