Game-bit of the day 430: Night Trap (Sega CD 32x)

This is a very odd game that I still can't figure out how it works. The whole point of the game is to get rid of these intruders interrupting a lesbian slumber party.

Finds 891: Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel (PSvita)

Here we keep the PSVita additions coming. This game is another one of those classic old school RPGs that RPG fans can never get enough of. Best of all, it's the collector's edition. You know how much I love those right?

Pokemon Card of the Week 044: Haunter

His final form is my favorite Pokemon ever but I'm always happy having a Haunter around. They are such wackos!

Game-bit of the day 429: Multiple Handhelds!

This is a set of handhelds I have that are some of my favorites. One of them was given to me by a dear friend while the other one I found in a garage sale. So much fun to have!

Finds 890: Playstation TV

This is a nice little gadget that lets you play PSvita games on your big screen TV. The problem with it is that it's not compatible with all PSvita games. It's one of those accessories that completely failed. I still think it's pretty cool. You can also use it to stream your PS4 games. I was never able to figure out how to because I'm just happy with PSvita features. Persona 4 Golden full screen anyone?

Ads from the past 325: Super Mario Bros 3

This is an ad I haven't seen before and it's about one of the best games of all time, Super Mario Bros 3 for the NES! It's actually more of the Japanese art style of the cart. Interesting...

Game-bit of the day 428: Dark Forces (PS1)

This is a very awesome game no matter what people say. Back then, this is all we had as a FPS from the Star Wars universe and it was awesome!

Finds 889: Ogre battle 64 Plus Imports

I finally got a copy of Ogre Battle 64 which is the last game I was missing for my Nintendo 64 collection. Other than that, there are some imports that I would love to pick up but all in due time. I also picked up some Saturn imports which are pretty fun. You gotta love the fighting games for the Saturn. Lots of top quality titles!

Game-bit of the day 427: NES Max

The NES Max was a controller that would make the D-pad feel more accurate. I guess it was supposed to help you play top-view games a lot easier since you had to use the D-pad for moving!

Finds 888: Legend of Legacy (3DS)

Another one of those RPGs with a lot to offer. The box art is really cute and the game itself is pretty fun although not the best I've played lately. This is still a good game to pick up.

Yu-gi-oh! Card of the Week 044: Toon Cyber Dragon

This is a really cute dragon that works well for a toon deck. It doesn't need toon kingdom to be alive! That's a nice plus!

Game-bit of the day 426: Max Play

This is a pretty famous Famiclone from South America. Go ahead, ask anyone that grew up in the 80s in South America and they'll remember what the Max Play was all about!

Finds 887: Xenoblade Chronicles Collector's Edition (WiiU)

This game was a pretty awesome pick up especially when you are able to pick up the collector's edition. Although the extras aren't that amazing and are usually the stuff that would come in any collector's edition, the game overall is quite good. It was totally worth picking this one up.

Pokemon Yellow

Pokemon Yellow Special Pikachu Edition, was released in 1998 and was the third edition reeled for GameBoy, after Pokemon Red and Blue.
Developed by GrameFreak and published by Nintendo, it was one of the best Pokemon versions.
Unlike other versions, Pokemon Yellow was inspired by the anime. Instead of the choice of Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, the player is forced to start with Pikachu that Professor Oak caught on Route 1.
Pikachu does not like you at the beginning, much like the anime. You earn Pikachu's trust overtime.
With the rival, Gary, starting with an Eevee, the player journeys through Pallet Town and experiences a whole new experience, with no grass, fire or water type Pokemon to fall back on, that until, the player receives all of them respectively in Cerulean City, Route 24 and Vermillion City.
Next, the player defeats all eight Gym Leaders (including Misty and Brock, however, they do not join the player on their journey) and eventually, the Elite Four.

Like the anime, Pikachu won't evolve, even with the use of The Thunderstone. If you try to use the stone on Pikcahu will just annoy Pikachu even more. Although there were times I did it, just to annoy Pikachu on purpose.
But you can get your Pikachu to surf in the Pikachu Beach Minigame.
To do this:
-Be sure to have Pikachu at the time of your Pokemon list.
- Fly to Fuchisa City
- From there, go straight down, jump over the 3 walls, and go into the first house you come to.
-Talk to the fisherman, and walk around his house, looking at everything, including the computer, signs and posters in the house.
-Walk out the house and walk to the water in front of the house. Your Pikachu should now know how to surf.
-Have a play around with your Pikachu on the water.
-Go to the edge of the water right out front the fisherman's house, select on Pikachu and surf around!
It's quite fun.
-Next, go back into the fisherman's house and look around again, including the posters and computer. There should be some new messages, if the cheat has worked.
-Save the game!
-Then go talk to the Fisherman again, and you will be able to play the game!!

I liked this version of Pokemon. I've played Pokemon Red and Blue on the PC but this on the Gameboy.  I probably racked up too many hours playing this game but it was worth it!
I did manage to play Pokemon Green on the PC but mine was Japanese sub with very little English, but I didn't connect well with the game as I did with the other versions.
9/10 :)

Game-bit of the day 425: SNES Multicart

This is a pretty awesome Multicart that comes with such games as Super Mario World, Gradius 3, Smash TV, and Super Tennis. A fun pick and play!

Finds 886: Jurassic Park Operation Genesis, Fragile Dreams, and Ultimate Tetris

These are very odd additions we totally welcomed to the collection. The Tetris was one that I wanted to add since like forever and it was on sale. The Fragile Dreams game was just odd and very interesting. Finally, the Jurassic Park game I got in a trade. It was quite a haul!

Retro Gaming News: Final Fantasy IV - The Un-J2e Version

"Final Fantasy IV was released here in the States as Final Fantasy II, and was the game to firmly establish Square as an RPG force to be reckoned with. Sadly though, the release was plagued by censors, edits, and a pretty godawful translation. Later Squaresoft rereleased FFIV in the States for Playstation as part of Final Fantasy Chronicles, complete, uncensored, and retranslated. Making an SNES translation kind of unnecessary in this day and age. But honestly, before that came along, how else were you supposed to check out the super-cool Programmer’s Room? That’s right.
You play the part of Cecil, commander of the Baron’s airship fleet, known as the Red Wings. You’ve served your king faithfully over the years, but recently he’s been acting weird and demanding that you retrieve the Crystals from all over the world, and by using any means necessary. Cecil questions the king’s judgement and is stripped of his command. What follows is a pretty nifty (and kinda weird) tale of good vs. evil, with some love and loss thrown into the mix. Granted, it’s not the first FF game to have a decent plot, but it’s the first to be a good game along with that.
FFIV was the last truly traditional Final Fantasy game, with all the characters learning specific skills when they reached a certain level. Just like Dragon Quest! These days the game may not look like much (admit it, the graphics aren’t too hot except for all the cool Mode7 stuff), but the gameplay is engaging, and the story keeps you playing. And the soundtrack is pretty sexy as well."

Retro Gaming News: Roll-chan 3 Improvement RELEASED!

"Announcing the release of ROLL-CHAN 3 IMPROVEMENT patch.
As many Mega Man fans may know by now, Mega Man 3 was released back in 1990 for the NES. However, along with the release of the game, it was already suffering with unresolved bugs and unimplemented features that could have made the game better. After 20 years, kuja killer created a Mega Man 3 Improvement(MM3I) patch for not only the US version of the game, but also for the Japanese version. It fixed all known bugs, like the Top Spin energy drain and the mosaic in the Stage Select screen; and he added more features for the game, like the Exit command and the real-time weapon switching. After the next few years, he made it as far as supplementing the game with an introduction movie, shown here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bed6y5sX03E
With that achievement, Zynk took the time to create a Roll-chan version of the improved Mega Man 3 game. Applying the patch with the Roll-chan 3 was very simple, but with the changes made in MM3I, more hacking was needed. And with the new Intro-scene, Zynk made a Roll-chan version of it, too.
With all that, please enjoy Roll-chan 3 Improvement!"

Retro Gaming News: Doraemon New English Translation is out!

"The Doraemon English Dub was on air. and Sky Yoshi made a new Translation! Doraemon is a NES game that was released in 1986 and it was based of a Manga and Anime series. This Translation is hardly inspired by the English Dub and Fan Subs. THe Gadget’s name was changed to all English, Characters are now smiling (Reverse Ristar!) and more! The Translation was done by Sky Yoshi and lot of people’s works, Thanks bud! Okay, that’s about it… So… Have fun with the Translation!
