Game-bit of the day 250: Magic of Schegerazade (NES)

This is a very fun game. I think it's very underrate which is fine by me because I can get to enjoy a quality game and not have to pay a lot of money for it.

I personally loved this movie. It was the sequel we would've wanted as a video game but this is the best we got.

Retro Gaming News: Shin Zelda Densetsu Final

"

Description:

Shin Zelda Densetsu is a complete overwrite of The Legend of Zelda, made by Lord Steak over 10 years ago. In a novel twist, the player must guide Princess Zelda on a quest to rescue Link from the forces of evil.
The overworld has been completely revamped, with few landmarks or routes recognizable from the original game, if any.
The same goes for the dungeons. Instead of numbered dungeons, they are identified using symbols of the Zodiac, another interesting twist.
The bugfixed version of the game released by Chris Miller was perfect except for one game breaking bug; it was impossible to get the Raft in the 2nd Quest. That has been fixed, so that the player can beat the game in it’s entirety. Other changes have been made to the game.
The original readme is included in the file with the updated patch. A Word document listing all the changes made to the game is also included.
Use the PRG-0 version of the rom. PRG-1 version will cause glitches.
Lunar IPS is recommended for patching.
UPDATE 10/NOV/2014: There was an unintended bug in Level-7 in the 2nd Quest. In the second room, there is a room full of yellow Wizzrobes. After beating them and pushing the block, a chime could be heard, but nothing else happens. This has been fixed. Apologies to everyone for the inconvenience.

Bootleg Game of the Week 071: Super Real Bout 97 (FC)

There are an abundant amount of fighting games and this one is just another one of the bunch. This one comes with a lot of fighters but like other bootleg fighting games, they're mostly the same characters over and over. Nevertheless, you can play as your favorite Fatal Fury fighters! Terry is my favorite if you haven't noticed. Lets check out this bootleg fighter megamix!
The music is forgettable. The game doesn't offer the quality music the original games do and that's where the comparison starts. The sound effects are almost non existent and there are no voice overs implemented into it. It's a bad quality bootleg.
Graphics are decent mainly because they actually made the characters look like their original counterparts. I'm also shocked at the names as they got them correct for the most part. It's not the worst game to look at!
The gameplay really falls short in this game. Just like many of the other fighters I've come across, there is a reason why there weren't released for the 8-bit console. You won't have much fun especially when your punches hit the enemy but nothing happens. A more improved fighting engine would've helped.
The game itself is just nice to look at but not nice to play. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're drunk and want to waste your time hitting the air.
This is not a must have. It's a very weak attempt at a fighting game. The big screen of characters which more than half of them being the same doesn't help. With weak gameplay, this game is far from being wanted. It's still a very interesting collectible. Till next week!

This game is actually a lot of fun. It's no wonder it got a sequel for the 3DS. I highly recommend this game especially during the Halloween season.

Retro Gaming News: Tecmo Super Bowl 2015

"

Description:

Tecmo Super Bowl is the greatest sports video game of all time. Now, 23 years after TSB made 8-Bit legends of Bo Jackson and Lawrence Taylor, TecmoBowl.org proudly announces the release of Tecmo Super Bowl 2015. This site’s 8th yearly iteration updates Tecmo’s NES classic with up-to-date rosters, graphics, schedules and play books for all 32 NFL squads. Additionally, the 4-3 defense has been added for teams who run this base defense.
Playable on multiple platforms and operating systems via NES emulation software, Tecmo Super Bowl 2015 brings Nintendo’s bone-crunching classic to today’s computers and handheld devices.
Will offenses fear Patrick Peterson like they feared Rod Woodson? Who is the more deadly play-caller: Peyton Manning or Joe Montana? Will Matt Schaub have a Grogan-esque ending to his career? Loaded into an NES Emulator, Tecmo Super Bowl 2015 will make legends for the next 23 years.
Tecmo Super Bowl 2015 Includes…
- 4-3 Defenses - Several teams employ 4-3 defenses. The “RT” (Right Tackle) will show up as the LILB on the rosters.
- 32-Team ROM
- Rosters current as of 9/2/14
- Adjustable quarter length
- Playbook editing in-game
- Player 2 attributes now display correctly
- Halftime stats
- Passing Accuracy hack is different from last year. Pass Control determines if a pass will be completed. Passing Accuracy determines if the ball will be on target.
- Quickness now works. This will be the maximum speed of a defender if they pick up a fumble or make an interception
- In order to get the proper Pro Bowl players, you may need to reset the season from the Schedule menu.ProBowl rosters are based on the new fantasy “Rice vs Deion” format. At this time you are not able to replace players from either conference.
Thanks to:
Jstout, Bruddog, Cxrom, Bad-Al & Buck for the hacking knowledge and tools. Members of TecmoBowl.org for helping to beta test and for making this all worthwhile.

Retro Game of the Week 142: Rex Ronan: Experimental Surgeon (SNES)

This is one of the most interesting game I have come across for the SNES. The story is actually interesting. You play as Rex Ronan, a surgeon who shrinks down to size in order to save a patient who's been smoking since he was 15 years old. The tobacco company sends droids to try and stop Rex and that's what this game is all about. Defeat droids, save your patient, in micro-size style!

Music and sound effects are actually quite good and goes well with the game. This is not the best of games ever to come out on the SNES but it's definitely good enough to sound well. After all, is there music inside a human body?
The game looks great in my opinion. You are inside a human body after all. You have to feel like you're inside a human body. I love the cut-scenes too. It's just something out of the ordinary.
The gameplay is decent. This is not the best of side-scrollers but it's definitely an interesting one. It's so interesting that even with the decent gameplay it delivers, you want to get through to see what happens next. You can use weapons and of course jump. The game is full of surprises.
This game is nice to pick up and play but it's not one you would want to play at a random time unless you watched an episode of House or something. I wouldn't say it's a bad replay game, but you have to be in the right mood to play it.
A very interesting game for the SNES that I didn't heard of until recently. It was definitely something I needed to check out. You should too! I recommend it, till next week!
